About Edward's Steakhouse - steak house in Jersey City, New Jersey

Traditional steakhouse fare plus seafood & high-end wines in a 19th-century brownstone.

Customer Review Summary

Edward's Steakhouse offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food is generally praised, especially the steak, which is often cooked to perfection. However, some reviews note inconsistencies in meat quality, with some steaks described as tough and lacking the expected aging aroma. Service receives high marks, with many describing it as outstanding and attentive. Pricing is considered fair for the quality and experience, with a typical meal around $100 per person. The ambiance is noted for its historical charm, although the space can feel dark and cramped. While the raw bar is well-received, some specific appetizers received mixed reviews. The personal experiences can vary significantly, with some feeling unwelcomed by staff.

Great steakhouse for a date. Inside is much larger than it appears. Food was quite nice, as expected for a steakhouse. Steak was cooked nicely at medium rare, although it could have used more salt. Overall, a tasty meal, but expect to spend about $100 per person if you get an appetizer, main, and wine. They only do half-bottles of wine.

The place is an old house, beautiful and historical, a local go-to spot. It's nice to have a place with a sense of history around. This was our second time visiting the place, and we sampled all the steaks they could offer, ribeye, sirloin and porterhouse. The temperature was perfect for what we ordered, medium rare. The steaks in general don't have the dry age aroma as they advertised as 28-day ageing. The meat quality was pretty bad, tough to chew, and full of gristle. Hope they will improve because we like the ambience here.

A local favorite steak house. Although I only go here on rare occasions. The steak here is fantastic. The ribeye is marbled well and cooked to a good temperature (medium rare) with it juicy and easy to chew. Make sure you book in advance on peak periods.

Edward's makes you feel like home. The environment is warm and welcoming, the service is outstanding, and the food is absolutely delicious. We love the raw bar selection and the steaks are always cooked to perfection. The porterhouse for two has been our recent go-to, but everything we've tried here over the years has been a hit and we'll continue to come back.

Everything was wonderful including the price. Typical but not astronomical. Rachel was wonderful. Every time my glass was empty she filled it up with a smile that could light up broadway!😍

Neat little restaurant - a bit dark with low ceilings but food was great and the service was fast! Porterhouse for one was huge - the accompanying sauce was delicious! Surprisingly loved the filet mignon carpaccio— a lot! Could skip the tuna tartare - felt meh and too mushy imo Oysters were small but delicious Bone marrow was alright Complimentary bread was 2 little buns - warm with butter and perfect amount of bread pre-meal

Place is spectacular excellent service attentive food was excellent fair prices as well. Really just lives up to the name and the reputation Stacy. My server was fantastic attentive and really push the limits of my expectations to this restaurant with her comforting service and recommendations she gave me an excellent experience that I’m not gonna forget to be honest and this might be a go to spot all the time. I don’t remember his name but the Irish manager at Time by the bar and the host desk was also very caring for his customers and me as well. Had a great Mother’s Day. I enjoyed myself. Can’t wait to go back. Even the bus workers were very sharp

I was looking forward to going there after experiencing some hardship. It was actually a personal goal after going through some medical difficulties. I have to say, the bartenders there are professional but do not go beyond that to be personable or friendly. Maybe they are with some people, but not with people like myself who they probably don't like for whatever reason, and they made me feel like I am not really welcomed. I did not appreciate that. I don't think I am going to return. There are plenty of steak places in the area to deal with people who will only put the bare minimum in making you feel welcomed. Thank you.
