Went for my birthday and spent A BAG! Food was amazing! I didn’t like that egg yolk pasta BUT THAT RAVIOLI!!?? Best i ever had! Shrimp cocktail was very good too. Crispy potatoes were dry, should be cooked with a sauce. Broccolini was very good!

Our server, Sydney, was incredibly pleasant and made the experience even more enjoyable with her warm and attentive service. The menu offers a variety of delicious options, but the meatballs and mushroom risotto are absolute must-tries. The meatballs were perfectly seasoned and tender, while the mushroom risotto was creamy and packed with rich, earthy flavors.

It was fantastic food. Every dish from the beginning was great, but here were my personal highlights from what we had: -The giant white beans and roasted brussel sprouts were homerun side dish picks. The beans needed a bread to help soak up the broth would be my missing piece. - I ordered the crudo for everyone at the table, knowing it could be a miss for my friends. However, the cured Fresno on it tied the bite together. Without that slice of cured Fresno it wouldn't be as fantastic. I loved the bright, vibrant sauce it was served with, too. - The Bistecca alla Fiorentina was the 🌟 🤩 ⭐️ we requested medium, and it was cooked perfect for me. The sear on the outside was something to be studied.

Formento’s is hands-down my favorite spot in the city for Italian food. I’ve been to countless places, always on the hunt for the perfect vodka sauce, and this restaurant really nails it—from their appetizers to their entrées and even their desserts, which is saying a lot since I’m not a huge dessert person. I’ve been here many times and will definitely keep coming back. My absolute favorite dish is the Brussels sprouts—they’re perfectly cooked, glazed, and topped with Parmesan. Just incredible. The paccheri with vodka sauce is a must-have. The sauce has the perfect flavor, and the paccheri noodles are clearly homemade and fresh, which makes all the difference. You have to try it. I’ve also had the eggplant Parmesan, but that’s a bit hit or miss. It’s not always consistent, so if you skip it, you’re not missing out too much. The cacio e pepe is another standout, and I’ve tried both the ricotta and burrata in the past—both were fantastic. Even their complimentary bread with the garlic oil dip is worth mentioning. It’s delicious. For dessert, I’ve had the tiramisu and chocolate chip cookies. Both were really good, even though I’m not a big dessert fan. The restaurant itself has a great vibe, whether you’re meeting friends or having a date night. The service is usually phenomenal, although it can slow down a bit when they’re busy—but that’s to be expected. Overall, Formento’s is such a reliable spot in the West Loop on Randolph. You can usually get a reservation, which is great, and the atmosphere is always inviting. I highly recommend it, and I’ll definitely be back.

It was outstanding! My family and I had the Cesar salad, roasted half chicken, carbonara, and other pastas and everything was amazing. I also had the palomino cocktail and I would give it a 10/10. The service was great, very nice and smooth.

Italian food here is really delicious and the service is amazing. The drinks were very nice as well. The dessert is really bad here so don’t even waste your money to order it.

The beef carpaccio with truffles is my favorite. Short rib kale risotto was good too but not thick enough. Carbonara taste was very good however choice of pasta is too thick and doesn't absorb the taste of the sauce well. Thinner pasta would be better. Chocolate cake has opportunity for improvement on the cake portion as it is a bit dry. Adding sour cream to the dough process would help. I would love to go back for the happy hour and try the whipped ricotta and the meatballs. I heard it is phenomenal. And the $1 oysters. I loved the outdoor dining on a beautiful night like tonight.

The service was outstanding. We were able to get a table in their lovely patio. The food was delicious. We had the grilled calamari, pizza bianqui, a couple of pastas, grilled branzino, and short ribs. I'll be returning.
