About Law’s chophouse - steak house in Thornton, Colorado
Customer Review Summary
Law's Chophouse offers a warm and comfortable dining atmosphere with generally friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food reviews are mixed; the bacon-wrapped peppers and steak received praise, while the Surf and Turf lobster was noted as dry and chewy. Some diners experienced issues with meal timing, particularly on busy nights, but certain waitstaff, like Nick and Addie, were highlighted for their exceptional service. Menu items, including the wagyu steak and French onion soup, faced criticism for quality inconsistencies, including undercooking and over-seasoning. Overall, while some had delightful experiences and enjoyed the ambiance, there is feedback indicating service and food quality may not meet expectations, especially for higher-end dining.

Friday evening dinner for four was a pleasant experience. The interior was warm, dark and comfortable. Our server, Dylan was knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered the bacon wrapped peppers stuffed with cheese which was good. Dinner included Surf and Turf, Lobster Risotto, and 8 oz Filet. The risotto was delicious and steaks had a nice blackened crust. The Surf and Turf lobster was dry and chewy and will not be ordered again. Side items of Brussels sprouts, asparagus and mashed potatoes were good. Overall the food and service was good, but not to the caliber of Capital Grill or Ruth's Chris steakhouse.

You want fancy atmosphere? You want fancy steak? You want those fancy sides that need to be ordered separately? Well, Law's Chophouse has all those! Seriously, though, this place was fantastic. The mood was perfect for celebrating what we have all done by the end of the year and ready to ring in the new year in style. The steaks ordered came out as expected; as rare as you can get it. Seriously, I now understand "buttery" when it comes to steak. Just delicious. However, the place had some struggles with even getting our meals out to us. Over an hour since we ordered our food and we burned through a bottle of wine. Luckily, our waiter Nick came to the rescue to expedite the situation. Even gave us another bottle on the house. And that's where I now understand "buttery" when it comes to wine now. Props to Nick, we will return again just because of him

We went for dinner after a day of hiking and man Laws did not disappoint! We had the brussels sprout app, it was a balance of flavors and a perfect start to our steak dinner. I tried the 8oz fillet which was cooked beautifully just the way I like it. Covered with a house made Bernese sauce and a good helping of asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes, and a velvety wine reduction that was next level. We also tried the shrimp jambalaya. Our take was it was a tad sweet for classic jambalaya but it was still very good and we would order it again. Our waiter Patrick was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, ingredients, pairings, and his suggestions were excellent, our visit was surly elevated by this young mans expert level service! Well done Patrick! We didn’t try any desert on this visit as we were so full!

Took my fiancée here for New Year’s Eve. As we walked in the historic looked at me and said “don’t have a reservation”? After replying that I did for 7:30, she said “have a seat, it’ll be a while”. Not off to a great start, I expect that kind of greeting from the teenager at village inn. We then were sat at our table, weren’t brought up to speed on any special courses or drinks for the night. Ordered the “Laws Popper” for an appetizer. Pretty decent, good flavor on the chilis. Had Jonny Walker Blue to drink, flawless. Attempted to order two different sides and steaks, one being the wagyu strip, they were out of stock, again, we weren’t informed when we sat down. My steak came out raw, sent it back to be cooked a little longer, it came back three minutes later and it was charcoal at that point. GM said told me “that’s bullshit” and comped it. Dessert was good. Get the brownie. Ask for Evan as a waiter. Great hospitality that he provided, he was the reason I had a decent experience here tonight. Unless they hire a new chef that doesn’t take a refire ticket personally, I won’t be back again.

We had a reservation for 8:30pm. The ambience is great, service was good. It was a slow Wednesday night so you would think the food preparation wouldn’t disappoint right? Well I was wrong. This was a $80 wagyu steak.. I also have a video of me cutting the steak looking meat… Didn’t wanna complain at that time but whoever I showed it to was shocked and couldn’t believe that this was sold as “wagyu”. Anyways not thinking of going back nor recommending it unless they have us back to fix their mistake.

I want to start by saying Addie was a great server. She made our dinner last night pleasant. Celebrated our anniversary so it was special and for that, thank you for your hospitality. The issues I had was the manager. I know as a 33 year old minority couple we may not look like we belong in an expensive restaurant as such but we know what to expect when we go anywhere including what to wear. However, we do pretty well with our careers so money in this instants isn't an issue. There were 3 total tables seated in our section, including us. The manager talked to both couples and ignored us not once, but twice. I wouldn't let this bother or ruin my night but I took notice. Then when we were the only table who ordered a bottle of wine, the worker brought it to the wrong table. Once the manager saw we both ordered wagyu and had the wine he proceeded to talk to us for 10 seconds while other tables got plenty of time discussing specials, wine, etc. This can certainly rub someone the wrong way. Addie's service was exceptional and we applaud her abilities to make everyone feel equal in the section she had. I'm not expecting any discounts or a call back. I just want this as an eye opener moment. Never judge a book by its cover. Plenty of restaurants would be glad to treat us with respect. Planned on spending much more than $400 last night.

Went to laws chophouse on a work trip and the food was delicious. I made a reservation day of and the staff was very kind to me. I enjoyed the atmosphere, and had a nice glass of Prosecco. I got the short rib which was so delicious with the puree. The flavors tasted great together. For desert, I got the brownie wrapped in a baklava like pastry, which was also very good but too much chocolate fudge sauce on top. I’d go back again!

Wow, not sure how to be polite with this review... Your waiter was kind and attentive... There got the pleasantries out of the way 1) Ribeye - waiter brought it and requested Incut it to check temp. Ordered med rare got med to med well on a direct cut down the middle. Waiter graciously offered a refire but I said it was fine and close enough... Now I'm not sure how EVERY side of the is steak was Pittsburgh rare but this rare feat was accomplished by what I presume was the busboy. Literally when waiter returned I asked for the check and unfortunately not just for the poorly cooked steak... It didn't get better with the anything else... 2)French Onion Soup - a personal favorite of mine was so overly peppered I can only presume that they have been reheating an older batch and mine was (hopefully) near the bottom. It was barely palatable to either our taste buds 3) Cavatappi - Bland and under sauced . Highlight I guess was bright orange. Left 75% uneaten 4) Asparagus - acceptable but very inconsistent size which greatly affected doneness. Some overcooked and string thin while other parts thick and properly done (like a real steakhouse). 5) Fingerling potatoes - just don't, for the love of God don't (see images) 6) Woodford Reserve (which the waiter bought which is nice but since it was the highlight I would have preferred to pay for and gotten a halfway decent meal) a nice mass produced premium liquor served properly. Hopefully I was there on a bad night but maybe it's why the world needs "franchised steakhouses" (Guard & Grace, Morton's, Etc)
