About Brothers - steak house in Norfolk, Virginia
Customer Review Summary
The reviews for Brothers highlight a mix of experiences. Many diners praised the atmosphere, citing the beautiful decor, clean environment, and enjoyable live music. Cocktails and appetizers received positive remarks, particularly the smoked old fashioned and lollipop lambchops. However, service issues were noted, including disorganization during larger parties, slow drink service, and inconsistencies in food quality. While some dishes, like the pan-seared scallops and salmon, were well-received, others, such as the lamb chops and calamari, fell short of expectations. Many guests appreciated the friendly staff and owner engagement, but several felt the food did not meet the high price point. Overall, while Brothers offers a lovely setting and some outstanding dishes, improvements are needed in service and food consistency to fully meet expectations.

My smoked old fashion was incredible… I thought that it was a little high for $20, but I definitely got a buzz off of it so that was great. It was smooth to drink. We were dining out for a corporate holiday dinner With a party of about 20. We called weeks in advance for a reservation, But one table was served an hour before the other table And our waters stayed empty for the entire entirety of our meals. Very disorganized and the food was good but not for $2200 bill.

Brothers was the last dinner event of my birthday month and what a wonderful birthday closeout! Besides it being a beautiful restaurant, we were seated at our reservation time! Our server, SHACK 🙌🏾, was AWESOME! Great personality, excellent menu recommendations & perfect service timing! We enjoyed our cocktails & appetizers: lollipop lambchops (perfect), calamari, & fried Shrimp (so good). The Pan Seared Scallops with parmesan risotto (absolutely delicious), the Grilled Pork Chop (sizable, juicy & full of flavor) and the fish special, Sea Bass!!! We were entertained by Michael Carson, who played EVERYTHING...including personal birthday serenades! 🙌🏾🙌🏾 Wonderful night, great friends, good food, & great entertainment! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 😋!

Live music great food great atmosphere. Why is this place not packed. I am happy but I know it will be hard to get a table soon. I had the Salmon and the broccolini was amazing. Washed down with a president beer and amazing chocolate cake at the end.

I'll start by saying the vibe was AMAZING!!! The restaurant was clean, and the lighting was perfect. The live jazz band was the icing on the cake!! The drinks and appetizers came out quick 🍸. The food was good with nice size portions. I recommend the jumbo fried fish appetizer and the salmon entre!!! You will not be disappointed!! Tony Brothers took the time to introduce himself and also explain the beautiful artwork on the wall. Very nice representation of Norfolk! They have several jazz and R&B artists coming soon, so check them out!!! Nice option for date nite!

The atmosphere of this restaurant is warm and inviting. The hostess was friendly and attentive. We were sat within minutes of our arrival based on our reservation. We were one of 2 tables that were occupied so it was pretty empty, however the service was slow especially for our drinks. The food was good, calamari and rib appetizers were enjoyable. I ordered the salmon which came with 2 sides - mashed potatoes and I subbed the brussel sprouts for collards. The salmon was undercooked and collards too salty, but the mashed potatoes were great. Overall, I think a place that requires a dress code with a high priced menu should offer a certain standard of service, such as boxing your leftovers for you, offer menu suggestions - we were told that because it’s a black-owned restaurant, the food is good. I appreciate and understood the sentiment but it wasn’t the formal approach we expected. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. This place has lots of potential, definitely worth a try.

I wanted somewhere nice that we've never been before to celebrate valentines. This place was absolutely amazing!! Food looked and tasted incredible, vibe and ambiance was spot on. Live music didn't disappoint. The owner greeted up several times and even served our dinner. My wife and I will be back for sure.

The restaurant and atmosphere are beautiful, we arrived just as the band was packing up, live music throughout the night would have been amazing. The waitress acted as if she had to try to seat us although we had reservations and the restaurant was basically empty. I ordered the lamb chop entree medium while my significant other ordered the Cowboy Ribeye meal and we ordered the fried ribs and calamari as appetizers. I have had better lamb chops, they tasted and looked charred. The collard greens and mashed potatoes were good. The calamari was way too salty and the rib had enough sauce but lacked flavor in the meat as if they felt the sauce would be enough. My significant other loved his steak but his macaroni and cheese was too oily. After one bite was taken there was enough oil to fill a paper towel. The food and service were overpriced. Total for 2 was $220. Been there, done that, will not be going again.

Upscale comfortable dining. The mural of Norfolk was beautiful. The lighting was just right. The bathrooms were SUPER CLEAN!!! The hostess was nice, aware, and had a sense of humor. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waiter who was also attentive to our orders. I enjoyed watching my food be prepared. The drinks were great. The food was okay at best but left a lot to be desired. The tuna ahi was a bit disappointing. The risotto was creamy and tasty. The pan seared scallops were a little bland, and the asparagus tasted like charred grass. Overall I’d give it a B-. I understand that high cholesterol, blood pressure, and sodium intake is real. Please don’t be afraid to season that food. We stayed for drinks once Mr. Banks began to sing. I will try again soon hopefully they see this review and make those minor changes.
