Customer Review Summary
The reviews for Smokey Bones Newport News are mixed. Some diners were disappointed with the "bar bites," noting that the boneless wings and loaded fries lacked flavor and quality. Instances of slow service and incorrect orders were reported, with some patrons feeling that the food didn't justify the prices. Positive experiences highlighted the enjoyable atmosphere, especially during karaoke night, and praised the family meals for their good value. Several diners mentioned excellent service from staff like the waitress named Gee, along with specific praise for dishes like pulled pork and brisket. However, concerns regarding employee treatment and overall management were also raised, overshadowing some positive experiences. Overall, while some enjoyed their meals and the ambiance, others found the food and service lacking.

My son and I decided to try the "bar bites" for lunch one day and we both came away with the same thought: not impressed. We started with boneless wings and loaded fries. I liked the fact that the wings were crunchy but they weren't very saucy. They were served with ranch and we liked them well enough to eat them all. The loaded fries were served on a plate that was super hot but the fries weren't. They had cheese on them and it had obviously been melted but apparently it had been long enough ago that the fries had cooled significantly. Disappointing. The Dirty Shirley I ordered helped wash a few of them down but they weren't very good. We decided to have another order of boneless wings and an order of pretzel bones. Wow. The second round of wings wasn't any better. In fact, they were worse. They had hardly any sauce. Sad. The pretzel bones were equally disappointing (although the salt on them helped a little). The beer cheese was okay, though it was kind of lumpy. The waitress was kind and refilled our drinks as needed. The atmosphere was pleasant since it wasn't all that busy. I noticed that multiple dishes sat waiting on the counter for extended periods of time. Maybe that's what happened to our fries. The food was disappointing, but it was reasonably priced. Maybe one day we'll give it another try. We could sample the other selections on the "bar bites" menu ... or not. We'll see.

just spent $60 on an order of full nachos an order of cornbread two beers and two sodas I will say that the food portion and quality does not match the price tag. This place has definitely fallen off from back in the day. Well it’s been seven months since my last visit and I must say service is not improved. I have been waiting over 30 minutes for some nachos restaurant is not even busy, Servers are getting orders wrong, Food brought out, that was ordered after the Nacho order . this place needs a huge staff evaluation. Shocked this place is still opened at this point terrible service 01/12/24

A must come see call karaoke night. The atmosphere is amazing. It matches the food. It is worth the value. The environment is very clean and there is plenty of parking and plenty of room for people that have mobility issues.

It was our first time buying food from there. We bought a family meal, and it was so good! And a very nice amount of food for the price!!!!!! We really liked it! I also ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with corn! I loved that sandwich. Family meal included chicken, pork, garlic bread, fries, loaded mashed potatoes .

My son and I were looking for a unique and nice place for dinner while visiting. We had the sweetest, most considerate waitress, Gee! She made the experience that much better. I ate the BEST pulled pork I’ve ever had and my son finished his whole meal which is insanely rare. I highly recommend dinner here and asking for Gee!

It is karaoke night, and a live music is awesome. There are plenty of TVs to watch sports. The atmosphere is outstanding. What's the place I would recommend stopping by, if you have an opportunity. I believe you will be satisfied. At least on karaoke night.

This restaurant is so cheap and abusive they make their employees shovel the parking lot... with the squigee for the bathroom floors. Can't even afford snow shovels or deicing solution to make the job a little easier. While another employee stands around smoking, dictating orders. Any restaurant that thinks so little about their employees is an immediate pass for me. If you don't care about your employees, then you don't care about your standards.

Ordered brisket, lemon pepper wings, mac n cheese with coleslaw, and any 3 favorites...pulled chicken, sausage, smoked wings with two sides and garlic bread. Everything was delicious 😋
