My family of 6 went impromptu as my sister recommended it. The drinks were horrible. The sprite tasted like the fountain needed to be cleaned. The chef was okay however, it wasn't much of a show, Unlike other Hibachi places I've been to. Also, they do not include "fried Rice" with the meal, it is literally $3 extra per person. This is the FIRST time I have ever had to pay for fried rice separately when the part of the reason most eat hibachi is because of the fried rice. Total Rip off and def not worth $245. We could've went to a 5 star restaurant for that amount. Service from the waiter was also horrible. Sorry Sho Gun, do better.

We used to come here several times per years for birthdays/special occasions but lately it has not been what it used to be. Our last visit here was on 11/01. The cook was okay, seemed tired with dry jokes. Our biggest issue was the food. 3 out of 5 people in our party got food poisoning with major GI upsets. We believe it was from the soup, as the two that did not get sick did not have soup. My husband called the restaurant to let them know, and the girl on the phone did not seem like she knew what she was doing and did not seem to care or be concerned. She took our information but we never received a call back or follow up as to what is being done to correct this and/or to make sure it doesn’t happen again or to others. We are very disappointed in the management and the handling of the situation. Save your money and go somewhere else - somewhere that knows proper food handling and that cares.

What's not to love? A small restaurant, but big on food, fun, and family. Been coming to Shogun for many years whether just because or to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. The staff are always friendly regardless if there are a few patrons or a full house. The chefs are great at entertaining the guests and keeping conversation and fun going! The food is phenomenal with many options. Always get extra noodles, you won't regret it. If you're up for it, try the egg yolk and garlic, again I don't think you'll regret it. Oh, and order a sake bomb... 😝 We always go home with left overs and full, happy bellies. We hope to keep coming back for many years to come. By the looks of all the pictures on the wall from celebrations of years past, I don't think they will be going anywhere any time soon... And if they do, Andy, I know where to find you 😉

I love this place! There is no other hibachi place where the food is better. The fried rice is the absolute best that I have tasted to date. The chefs are fun and interact with the guests throughout the cooking show. I recommend this place to anyone that likes hibachi. It's about $40 a plate if you order the filet with tip. The portion of food is generous.

Amazing place for Japanese food lovers. Huge place that can fit around 50 people at a time. Skilled chef, excellent staff, clean grill and great service makes dining experience great. Sharing tables with random people provides good opportunity to know different people. All the walls of restaurant has picture of thousands of happy customers, that speaks about longevity and hospitality of the place. They have separate chairs for toddlers.

Another new restaurant that we tried, my husband chose it for a new experience and new location. First impression was good and bad. There were so many past customers party pictures sticking on every wall. So we thought it must be a good place. But at the same time, those old photos make the place look old. We just walked in and the hostess told us to take pictures of the menu at the check in without telling us why. I didn’t want to take it since I was expecting to look at a physical menu at the table. But no, there was NO physical menus. After seating, I had to walk out from my table to the check in desk to take the photos. Did not look good. Seriously?! We ordered the family meal for two, the lobster with steak and shrimp with egg yolks. We ordered steam rice instead of fried rice. We had to share the table with two strangers/teenagers who were not conscious about the language they used in front of young kids (F words). They were overall nice but they were not suitable to share table. The show was just ok. The chef was not really interactive or funny. The food was not bad but it was just too pricey for the amount of food we got. Plus, they forgot to give us steam rice at the beginning. Until the show was done and the chef left, I was like where is our rice? We were still hungry. They brought us two bowls of rice after we finished eating all the food already. So we just mixed the rice with leftover sauce to finish it. What an experience! They did not even have the thought to apologize for their mistake. Yet, they added $15 tips, plus extra charge for egg yolks, to our check making it to around $130. I would not give this much tip for poor services and experience.

Been going to this place for years and it has went downhill. No physical menus, diet size portions, they automatically add 20% in the bill for the tip. The food was subpar. Saturated in lard and butter. Our chef was a dud. His personality was like a wet mop. He did things backwards, like the appetizer was last. We needed to ask for things like the sauces and soy sauce.Truly heartbreaking. Had such good memories of this place, taking my kids there for their birthdays. I truly hesitated before writing this review. Goodbye Shogun.

How this place is a 4.3 stars is crazy. While me and my daughter did look at the reviews we still decided to go anyways. First we sat at the first table around the corner and it was FREEEZING. I get it that it’s winter in Chicago but omg it was brutal..second our chef was the most blah chef I’ve ever had during any hibachi experience didn’t even say anything aside from how do you want your steak cooked. Yum yum taste like honey mustard. The food was a 6/10 and for that I will give it 2 stars and of the other chefs were much more engaging with their tables. I just think ours just didn’t quite care. Will not be returning will just go to Shinto or Wus House.
