Customer Review Summary
Beni provided an excellent dining experience, making the meal fun and enjoyable. However, some long-time customers have noted a decline in quality, particularly with a new chef whose service was subpar, leading to smaller portions and lack of entertainment. One group experienced unsanitary conditions and poor service, with food being overcooked and lacking flavor, resulting in disappointment. In contrast, Binh received high praise for his entertaining and personable service during a birthday celebration. Many diners enjoy the generous Royal family dinner, highlighting the variety of delicious food offered. The restaurant's ambiance is often described as needing maintenance, with old furnishings and carpets, which raises concerns about cleanliness and presentation. Overall, while some diners continue to enjoy the food and service, others express disappointment with recent experiences and the need for improvements.

Beni was amazing! We were some of the first ones there tonight so it was a little quiet but he made the experience great! Thank you so much for the delicious meal and fun time!

We have been coming to Tepanyaki for 20 years. It has always been our family's go-to restaurant for celebrations. And in 20 years, we've had good experiences. We knew all the chefs and everything was familiar and delicious and entertaining. But, something has changed. We came in August and had a new chef who was less than stellar. He was grumpy and fast and sloppy. The experience was disappointing, but we decided it was a one-off, because the restaurant was busy, and let it go. We came back tonight for my son's birthday and had the same chef. And he hasn't gotten any better. The meal was haphazard and sloppy and the portions significantly smaller. He didn't even cook enough chicken for everyone who ordered it and had one person take some off his plate to give to the one who didn't get any. Seriously? Your portions have shrunk and you didn't even cook enough. The restaurant was not as busy and the other chef, one we have had many times in the past, was entertaining to his table and careful in his chopping and cooking. There was little show at our table, very little fun, and not enough food. For an almost $200 meal, it is such a disappointment to see the restaurant change. I don't know if it's new management or just a new chef, but after 20 years, we are looking for a new Hibachi restaurant to go to.

We love Teppanyaki and always consider it a treat when we go. So, when we found out Boise had a location while visiting my sister, we were excited to celebrate my husband’s birthday there. Unfortunately, this experience was far from what we were used to, and I regret not trusting my instincts early on. As we pulled into the parking lot on a Saturday night, I was surprised to see the lot nearly empty. The building looked old and run-down, but we decided to give it a chance, thinking maybe it was just quiet that evening. Walking inside, the concerns grew—the carpets were dirty, the ceilings were in terrible condition, and the grill top had remnants of food from the previous cook still stuck to it. In hindsight, we should have left, but we decided to stay based on some positive Google reviews. The service was disappointing. Our waiter lacked the charm and energy we’re used to at other Teppanyaki locations. However, we were still holding out hope for the food. When the chef finally came out (seemingly the only one working that night), he was not only cooking for us but also preparing a to-go order at the same time. Throughout the cooking, he kept walking away and leaving our food unattended on the grill, which led to it being overcooked. To make matters worse, he repeatedly checked his phone while cooking—extremely unsanitary. The food itself was dry, lacked flavor, and was a huge letdown. For $100, we left feeling both hungry and disappointed. This was not the Teppanyaki experience we know and love, and sadly, we won’t be returning to this location.

Went for my son’s 16th birthday. Binh was our table chef. He had the most amazing personality and was so much fun!! He even cut up the dishes in little bite sizes pieces for the 2 year-old grand-baby. To top it off he made a sizzling onion tower to sing happy birthday to my son. Definitely a memorable experience and my son loved it!! Cannot thank Binh enough for making it so special!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND ASK FOR BINH!! He was the best and our food was exceptional. Other wait staff were very attentive and friendly!

We come in for Christmas Eve every year and always have a good time. We get the Royal family dinner and love the variety of food that comes with it. It comes with soup, salad, egg roles, fried rice, veggies, chicken, steak, shrimp, lobster and an ice cream. The meal is huge and we always have some left overs to have for lunches. I absolutely love the fried rice here and crave it constantly.

9/3/2023_I took my daughter and family here for her birthday (lucky 39) dinner around 5:00pm on a Sunday. We was the second table there so service was excellent. Our drinks and water was always full. The chef was entertaining and made my daughter fill special on her birthday. My grandkids had never been there so it was a new experience for them. We had the Royal Dinner for six people with salad, soup, egg rolls, rice, grilled veggies, chicken, lobster, shrimp, filet mignon, ice cream and cheesecake for the birthday girl!! The food was delicious and the steak melted in your mouth! Highly recommend!

The hibachi and service were excellent. Food was fresh, cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. Portions were average and the ginger sauce was good. We were surprised that there was no YumYum sauce offered, but it was fine. The building is old, furnishings and carpet very tired. The place needs new carpet and tables. I was concerned that if the dining space looked like this, that the food prep probably did too. The price was good for the food.

When celebrating a special occasion, this is one of my top 3 places. The chefs are great. The food is delicious. Call ahead for reservations of more than 4 people. It may look dilapidated on the outside, but the kitchen, food, and chefs are where they shine.
