Customer Review Summary

Maya Steaks & Seafood received mixed reviews from customers. Service inconsistency was a common theme, with some praising attentive servers like Sue and Billy, while others criticized the management's response to issues. Food quality was also hit or miss; several reviewers noted overcooked steaks, though some described their second steaks as perfect. The ambiance was generally appreciated as romantic and intimate, making it suitable for special occasions. Diners enjoyed specific dishes like the filet oscar, truffle mac & cheese, and desserts, but some found other items bland or less flavorful than expected. Valet service encountered delays, contributing to customer frustration, particularly on busy nights. Overall, the restaurant had potential but struggled during peak times and with food consistency.

We went to Maya for Valentine’s Day… what a mistake! They did a set menu so you would think they would be more on top of things and be able to maintain a great service even on a high demand night, that is why you do a set menu correct. Brian (the manger) looked stressed out when we arrived at 6:45pm for our 7pm reservations. Our filet came out over cooked, the filet was good the second time although it would have been better if it wasn't covered in a heavy gravy sauce (which a good steak house shouldn't use gravy on any steak), every time they brought out a course they forgot utensils and had to go back to get them (all three times). Creme burlee was ice cold, which was a first for me so very disappointing. Then, as we went to leave valet couldn’t find our car, they said it was blocked in so we waited 20 minutes then we asked who I think was the owner for assistance and it ended up taking almost 30 minutes for them to retrieve our vehicle. Brian the manager kept walking by us not saying anything as we stood at the bar waiting for our car. Our server Billy was really good and the only staff member that seemed to care, he was very apologetic (the manager wasn’t again very disappointing).

Good service, good food. Sue was our server, did a very good job. My steak was over-cooked, was perfect the second time, kitchen recovered very nicely. We'll be back....

This place was awesome ! It's my birthday today & my boyfriend decided to take me someplace new for my quarter century birthday dinner. It's a Tuesday so that made it easy to pick a place. This place was a little difficult to see at night because it's right off Roswell road and has a red sign. They have complimentary valet so make sure to bring cash for a tip. We called before & asked if they had room for 2.. we live down the street so we came right over. I'd say dress business casual. Atmosphere was romantic with dim lighting & servers that probably have more etiquette than most people reading this (including myself). Sue was our server & she was superb! She was friendly & informative & shares my mom's name so of course I liked her. We experienced no wait to sit or be served & plenty of people stopped by to ensure we had everything. We ordered the featured dish, filet oscar, 2 sides of truffle mac & cheese (you have to get it!) & a sweet corn with cheese that was tasty & cut clean off the cob, and the new York strip steak. Oh, and a glass of clean slate Riesling (crisp & sweet like an apple), ... And a red that started with an A... Possibly a pinot noir. We received bread (sourdough, wheat & a dried fruit bread) with herb butter (that was amazing ) to start with our wine while we waited for our food. We ordered a ton so we didn't get an appetizer and did not miss it. Sue said the carpaccio (sp) was popular but we didn't order it as my boyfriend hates the carpaccio we had at Nori Nori. The filet was melt in your mouth good & the strip steak was slightly crisp on the outside but med rare inside (soft & crunchy was perfect ) ... A lot of crab meat came with the filet & I'm sure the hollandaise was awesome if you like hollandaise. If you're like me and abhor Mayonnaise, skip it. And since it was my birthday we got dessert on the house & the tiramisu was so good! It had shaved chocolate & what may as well have been mascarpone mousse, it was so smooth & satisfying. We're not very savvy on etiquette so we never know what we're supposed to do with our napkins or plates or forks or whatever but nobody made us feel awkward so that was also a plus. I posted pics separately so take a look at those too

This restaurant is such a great value. The food is incredible, and it's also reasonably priced. Honestly, I expected the lunch menu to be far more expensive and would have happily paid for it. The place still reminds me of the old Rumi's as far as the interior goes, but the food is about 1000x better. I heard the Chilean Seabass was excellent although I didn't personally try it. The Scottish Salmon is something to definitely write home about though. I honestly can't remember protecting food as diligently as I did, but hey. Also, their creamed corn is pretty good. Better than I expected considering it was probably prepared a lot more lighter than most places, i.g. Similar to Del Friscos, but better and not as heavy as Bone's. One word of advice though is be careful not to get locked into the bathrooms. You've got to press down to shut the door and/or get out. Can be a little embarrassing is you don't remember that. O.o. Also, It's not that big of a location, which is great if you'd prefer intimate dining. Keep that in mind if you are trying to visit during peak times. May want to get a reservation.

The wait was terrible and there was noone in the restaurant. To be a steakhouse, they overcooked 3 of the 4 steaks in my group... not good.... seafood was delicious. Server was nice, but slow.

The food wasn't quite as expected. Food was very bland and no taste and the quantity when compared to other steak houses was less. However the ambiance was good and the service was OK.
