The Drying Shed offers a mix of positive and negative dining experiences. Many patrons praise the quality of the food, highlighting the delicious steaks, clam chowder, and generous portions of other dishes. Several reviews commend the old-school vibe, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere, especially from staff members like Ed. However, there are significant complaints regarding service delays and issues during busy events, such as Thanksgiving. Some reviewers experienced unaccommodating staff and poor responses to special needs, leading to overall dissatisfaction. The Drying Shed is a neighborhood classic but it has been YEARS since I've had dinner there. What a great surprise. Yes it is a steak and seafood place but I was able to find many vegetarian options. Great quality food and amazing service (thanks Ed). It definitely has an old school food vibe to it -- in a good way. Crunchy toasted garlic bread, amazing (homemade?) croutons in the salad, great homemade slaw, and so on. Would have preferred not to have the TV's on while dining, but admittedly we were there early, so maybe that isn't the standard dining experience there. Overall a great dinner.

Had the best clam chowder I could even imagine. The prime rib here is better than the House of Prime Rib. The waiter was proud as can be of everything to do with this restaurant and it showed. You don't see this kind of pride in workmanship everyday and know this was not a paid endorsement. The clam chowder was so good I ordered some to go and their croutons for the salad to go with it, wow!

First of All I would like to Say I Have Been to the Drying Shed Several Times and the Service & Food Were Great, I Made RSVP for Thanksgiving Dinner For 15 People at 1:30, We didn’t get Seated till after 2pm. After waiting Our Waitress took our Order for Drinks instead of Asking what we wanted She Told us they had Wine and Soft Drinks, They she asked us to Raise our hands if we wanted Wine or Soda (I felt like a Kid) So Finally our Drinks Arrive and Our Drinks were in Plastic Cups (No Dishwasher) She Finally comes Back takes our Order Raise Your Hands for Prime Rib Or Turkey, waiting for her come Back to get Refills on Our Drinks, Finally our Food Arrives all but 3 Pieces of Prime Rib were Over Cooked, My Turkey Dinner had about 4 Small Pieces of Turkey And Finally We Never Received any Rolls with Our Dinner. I don’t recall our Waitress coming back to our Table until it was Was Time For Dessert & Coffee, They Bring out Pumpkin Pie on Paper Plates ☹️ and 2 Cups of Coffee and she be Right back with More Coffee when I Looked Over to another Table she was Serving them Coffee, Coffee finally Arrives Cold, By then am Not to Happy about the Whole Evening. I Just wanted to Pay and Leave, I Honestly can Say I will Not Return for Thanksgiving Dinner Again or Recommend The Drying Shed

I’ve been hosting events at the Shed for over 35 years and it was 5 stars back then and still remains the same today. Food portions, taste and preparation are outstanding. Filet Mignon hamburger is to die for and by far best in town. The ambiance is very quaint, cozy and inviting. Denise, Ed and Al treat you like family. An exceptional place to visit if you really want a quiet evening filled with great food and good service. F. Carrillo

Last here in 30 years. The food was very good back then and it appears to be very good still... But here is the problem. My friend and I came to try out the karaoke for the first time. My friend has to use one of those manual scooters to stay off of one of his feet. As we entered the lounge to look for a table, the waiter ran over and yelled at us that we were not allowed to bring his scooter into the lounge and ORDERED us to leave it in the small area near the exit. My friend cannot put any weight on his foot and we explained that he couldn't walk. The waiter said he didn't care. Not his problem and to leave the scooter or get out!!. We managed to find a small table for two at the back of the lounge and were able to maneuver the scooter so it was out of the way. The waiter served everyone around us and didn't come to take an order from us for over an hour. I ordered a coke, (we had just eaten dinner before going there). My friend had spent his cash on dinner and didn't have his card, so said he just wanted a glass of water. The waiter made a scene and demanded we order something or leave. My friend asked for coffee, and the waiter said they didn't serve coffee!!! So my friend ordered a diet coke too. The waiter never brought it to us. About 30 minutes later, the KJ came over and said the waiter wanted us to leave because he needed the table for paying customers.. she apologized for his rudeness and asked us to sing one more song before leaving. We did and then we left. IF I come back it'll be for the karaoke. And, now that I know the "Rules" I'll buy a meal, despite the rudeness and total lack of compassion for my friend's situation. .

Went here for Valentine's Day. The website said reservations recommended. I called a week and half prior and made dinner reservations for 2 at 730pm for Valentine's. I was looking forward to eating here as my priest comes here and promotes it and ESSJ Times promotes this spot as well. I did happen to come to a funeral reception and thought the food was decent. So we get there and are told it will be 30 minutes. It's what they said to everyone, regardless of a reservation. Reservations don't exist. So we wait. We finally get seated and the atmosphere could use some overhaul. It's outdated and falling apart... So our waitress comes she's not friendly and lacks customer service. Asked what I wanted, I got the prime rib medium well... She asked rice or fries, I got fries but seriously with $59 prime rib dinner it's rice or fries? Ok. My boyfriend got the ribs and chicken with fries. Our house salads came out right away... Wasnt impressed, my boyfriend's sliced tomato had the stem post still attached and it was just lettuce... We finish the salad and the wait for food which was just as long it seemed as getting to sit at a table. Our food comes out and just another disappointment. The piece of prime rib I was given was the end piece, full of fat. My fries were swimming in the liquid from my prime rib. I would have picked something else if I would have known, or actually not come at all and saved our money and cooked ourselves. My boyfriend's food was even more disappointing. They just slapped some kind of "bbq" sauce on the ribs and chicken. There was no flavor. The chicken breast was dried out but had a lot of "greasy" looking liquid at the bottom of it. His ribs were very fatty needless to say he didn't even eat his food at all and we boxed it up and just paid the food. I picked this place, so I didn't hear the end of it. No wonder this place is going down hill. The service is terrible the food is even worse and the price isn't worth it. The worst experience in a long time. I would never recommend this place for anything.
