Customer Review Summary

The restaurant Tartan of Redlands has a mixed set of reviews. Some patrons find the atmosphere classy yet casual, with reasonable prices and good service. The interior is described as dated but comfortable, with a busy vibe on nights like Thursday and Saturday. A few diners experienced food that lacked seasoning, particularly noting issues with specific dishes, and some felt the noise from large parties affected their enjoyment. However, there are positive mentions of the service, with particular praise for the staff's kindness during difficult situations. The restaurant is also noted for its cozy feel, making it suitable for date nights, and has standout dishes like the brownie ice cream dessert and the Tartan burger. Overall, while some enjoyed their meals and service, others expressed frustration with seating arrangements and food quality.

It was not what I expected. I'd equate it to Sizzler, but a little classier. Not Ruth's Cris classy, but a working mans' classy. Actually, it was very reasonable. Soup, rib eye steak, baked potato, Tartan Surprise for dessert, 2 x Belvedere and an Amoretto was $100, w/o tip. I was expecting to pay more. Dated interior w red leather seats (but good service, thx Devon!) and outdoor patio seating. All were doing brisk business on a Thursday night. Families with kids, couples and workers. Come to think of it, I just may go back.

I had been suffering a migraine all day and my headache was making me nauseous. Wanted to eat out and have a date night and didn't expect to get worse. I ordered my food but couldn't eat any of it and I visited the restroom several times when I felt nauseous in fear of having an accident in the booth. This review is to the kind server that went above and beyond to bring me a puke bag and soda cracker packets. I left my boyfriend to pay inside and I went outside to sit on a curb feeling severe pain. This kind woman came out to give me those items in case I needed them. I did end up using the bag on the car ride home. I am beyond grateful to the kindness and caring shown to me last night. I am forever grateful to whoever you are and I hope management will give you commendation for your kind heart. And if I had had to use the bathroom, it is one of the most spotless I have ever seen. A++ The restaurant was very busy and almost at max capacity on this Saturday night but yet I felt true personalized service. Thank you.

Overall it was okay. Our server Shannon was very nice, helpful, and fast. Food was expensive and didn’t seem to have any seasoning on it, not even salt. Ordered 12 oz peppercorn steak, it was juicy. Husband ordered burger and fries, not worth the money. Clam chowder tasted like broccoli soup, so strange. Coconut shrimp pineapple dipping sauce didn’t make it taste better. Only good thing was the spinach artichoke dip. They had 3 huge parties outside that were super loud which took away from our dining experience. Wouldn’t go back.

Throw back to the good old days. What a gem Redlands has. Not a giant menu but some good stuff on it. The brownie ice cream desert is the bomb!

First time visiting. Fun and friendly people. Great service! I will definitely go again. Wings & fried zucchini were good! We sat at the bar and then moved to a table.

The Tartan is a cozy restaurant located in the heart ❤️ of downtown Redlands. It was a cold, cozy night perfect for date night. We went on a Tuesday night, and we were seated right away. I highly recommend the cabbage beef soup 🍲 😋 the beef flavor was delicious! Since this was our valentine's get away we decided to go with the surf and turff! It was delicious however my baked potato could have been cooked a bit longer. As far as the horseradish goes you might want to go with the creamy one. I have eaten this stuff all my life 🙃 and this one was off the charts as far the pungent taste and heat. The creamy one was easy to consume. All the booths were taken, so we sat in the very back . It was nice and a little romantic until a party 🥳 of six was seated next to us! But they seemed to be having fun and we were done with dinner so we left. 🍔 And just incase you want a burger the Tartan burger is really delicious.

I've been here at least a half dozen times within the past two months. The food and service is exceptional, however I dont understand why, when I have reservations, that my wife and I were seated back in a corner off of the main room. On our last visit, they moved us from our table after we ordered our drinks and appetizers and put us in a corner, and then they put another couple in our place...I don't know if they were regulars...but the experience put me off from wanting to come back.

First time here. Absolutely great, from the bar to the dinning table. I ordered an Old Fashion that was to the nines perfect. Once at the table the nines continued. Kevin was a great from start to finish. The prime rib was fantastic. Highly recommend this place from top to bottom.
